PhoneGap: Hybrid Application Framework

PhoneGap (phonegap.com) is a cross-platform framework for developing native applications on six mobile platforms with the big three web technologies: HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The framework provides a series of native platform implementations that developers can use to "wrap" their HTML5 assets into a native binary. Additionally, the framework binds a variety of device APIs (such as accelerometer, contacts and compass) to a JavaScript API, allowing you to do awesome things with web tech that were not possible before. This talk focuses on advanced usage of PhoneGap with the newest features landing in the Apache Foundation version of the project: Apache Cordova. The framework is becoming embeddable, giving you the option of incorporating a web view that includes the PhoneGap native bridge into your existing native application. Additionally, we will go over plugins, which describes the combination of JavaScript and native code that create individual PhoneGap APIs - and show you how you can extend the existing APIs with your own.
